🌶 Chili Cook-Off Rules

Entry & Setup

  1. Registration – All contestants must pre-register by 10/17. Limited spots available.

  2. Check-In Time – Arrive by 11 am to set up and be ready to serve when tasting opens.

  3. Crockpot Size – Bring one full 7-quart crockpot (about 2 gallons). Because we want the contest to be fair, please do not bring more than that.

  4. Equipment – Contestants supply their own crockpot.

Chili Guidelines

  1. Type of Chili – Any style is welcome (meat, vegetarian, white chili, spicy, sweet, etc.).

  2. Homemade Only – Chili must be prepared from scratch (no restaurant/store entries).

  3. Food Safety – Chili must be brought HOT (140°F+), in a working crockpot, and maintained at safe serving temp.

  4. No Garnishes in the Pot – We will supply garnishes for tasters, should they desire.

Serving & Tasting

  1. Sample Size – Tasting portions are 2 oz (provided by organizers). Volunteers will help portion to keep servings consistent.

  2. Tickets - We will be selling a maximum of 112 tickets.

Judging & Prizes

  1. Categories (examples):

  • 🏆 Best Overall - Will receive a $100 gift certificate to Bluestem Hollow.

  1. Ballots – Guests vote with provided ballots.

  2. Ties – Broken by a final tasting by Chef.

General

  1. Clean-Up – Contestants are responsible for removing their crockpot after the event.

  2. Have Fun! – This is a community event. Good sportsmanship is required.
